Video of a young woman from Florida anointing the plane she was going to fly on with holy oil goes viral. Six million views and tens of thousands of comments have been achieved by the short audiovisual uploaded by a woman identified as Desiree Salter to her account TikTok, from the moment he was about to board a JetBlue flight, and anointed the outside of the aircraft door with the oil from the flask, sealing it with a cross.
“In the name of Jesus we pray… AMEN,” Salter wrote in the caption of his viral post.
The video has caused a great deal of controversy on social media, with some supporting the Christian ritual and others launching numerous criticisms against the young woman.
“There is a fine line between fear and faith,” one man commented.
"The aeronautical engineer who designed the plane will see this," someone else said in criticism.
However, there was no shortage of people who praised Desiree Salter for fearlessly showing her faith in Jesus Christ.
“Amen, covered in the Lord,” “We’re going to Jamaica next month, I’m going to need you on that flight,” “I don’t blame you at this point,” “I’m not religious, but I once traveled with someone who prayed before takeoff and I felt much safer,” were some of the comments in favor of the ritual with blessed oil.
Returning from her vacation, Desiree repeated the same ritual, along with the post: “We will bless this plane again.”
The frequency of air accidents since the beginning of the year has definitely sparked concern and a lot of fear among passengers, who are no longer feeling very safe when travelling on planes.
On January 30, a fatal collision between an Army helicopter and an American Airlines flight in Washington DC caused the death of all 67 people on board, but this was not the only one, although it was the most publicized.
A report from this week of America TV The agency announced that as of February 20, 14 air accidents had been reported worldwide so far in 2025, statistics that are undoubtedly alarming.
