Three Florida airports among the three worst to fly to in the United States

Airports tend to evoke feelings of stress and uncertainty, especially in the peak summer season. Many of us have encountered long queues, security procedures and flight disruptions during our air travels. However, the airport experience can vary depending on where you are departing from.

In May 2024, AirHelp, a travel claims management agency, published a report ranking airports based on their performance for travelers.


The results were derived from information collected at airports that experienced the highest and lowest number of air disruptions in the month of May, prior to the start of the summer holiday period.

Three Florida airports were included on the list: Orlando International Airport, Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Below are the airports that experienced the most disruptions in handling during the month of May.

  1. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport: 45,6% of flights disrupted
  2. George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston: 40,6% of flights disrupted
  3. Charlotte Douglas International Airport: 37,8% of flights disrupted
  4. O'Hare International Airport: 34,7% of flights disrupted
  5. Miami International Airport: 31,7% of flights interrupted
  6. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport: 30,5% of flights disrupted
  7. Orlando International Airport: 30,5% of snubs disrupted
  8. Denver International Airport: 28,7% of flights disrupted
  9. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport: 28,4% of flights disrupted
  10. Ronald Reagan National Airport: 27,8% of flights disrupted

The best airports are:

  1. Salt Lake City International Airport: 18,6% of flights disrupted
  2. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport: 20,8% of flights disrupted
  3. John F. Kennedy International Airport: 21,8% of flights disrupted
  4. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport: 22,1% of flights disrupted
  5. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: 23,3% of flights disrupted
  6. Boston Logan International Airport: 23,4% of flights disrupted
  7. New York's LaGuardia Airport: 23,6% of flights disrupted
  8. Philadelphia International Airport: 23,6% of flights disrupted
  9. Los Angeles International Airport: 24,2% of flights disrupted
  10. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport: 24,6% of flights disrupted

    I am a frequent traveler and I am already giving up. The terminals at airports are terrible and then there are the airlines that suck you dry like a leech.
    They make you waste a lot of time.
