The Powerball jackpot remained unclaimed over the weekend, inching closer to hitting $1 billion in Monday's drawing, lottery officials said.
The numbers drawn on Saturday night were: 33, 13, 50, 12, 52 and the Powerball number was 23.
The Powerball jackpot grew to $975 million on Monday, increasing by $40 million when no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing.
In Monday's drawing, the lucky jackpot winner has the option of receiving annual payments or a one-time lump sum of approximately $471,7 million.
None of the tickets matched to win the jackpot during Saturday's drawing, but four lucky tickets managed to match the first five numbers and win $1 million each. The winning tickets were sold in Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania, the Powerball website reported.
The $842,4 million Powerball jackpot was claimed by a lucky winner from Michigan in January. Since then, Powerball has held 38 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.
In November 2022, a record $2.040 billion Powerball prize was awarded to a lucky ticket holder in California, making it the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, lottery officials reported.
