The daughter of Cándido Raúl Rubio Pérez, the Cuban who murdered his ex-partner, Niurka Alfonso Acevedo, last week in Nashville, Tennessee., broke the silence about his father on social media.
The young woman identified as Rachel Rubio, has an account in TikTok She became known about two years ago due to her work as a truck driver in the United States. And although the video of her father speaking doesn't currently appear on her social media, it has been recorded and shared by other internet users.
"It was 24 years of violence. It wasn't just now. It wasn't from now on, it was 24 years of violence. It was 24 years in which they separated, got back together, separated, got back together, but there was always, always violence," Rachel confessed in her harrowing testimony.
According to the young woman, her father was always emotionally unstable, a substance abuser, and lived "a wild life" with her stepmother. They even visited swinger clubs, places where partners are consensually exchanged and shared.
"Women, don't allow a man to abuse you for so many years. A united family is not synonymous with a happy family. Just because you give your children a united family doesn't mean they'll be happy, because in the end, that creates trauma in us. And I say this in my own case, because I saw problems with my parents until I was five years old," the islander revealed.
According to Rubio, her father began the relationship with Alfonso Acevedo while he was still in a relationship with her mother, and she and her brother were young.
"We were all involved, we all suffered from it since we were children," he explained, given that he grew up witnessing the instability his father always lived with.
However, Rachel acknowledged that she is still in shock over what happened, and never believed her father was capable of murdering someone.
"I saw him as deranged; he was always saying goodbye. I never thought he was going to hurt someone else, but I always thought he was going to hurt himself because he was always saying goodbye. It's hard," Rubio said, referring to the last meeting he had with his father just a couple of weeks ago in North Carolina.
She also clarified that they tried to help Rubio Pérez on many occasions; for example, his aunt once traveled with him to Mexico to see a psychiatrist.
"We tried to help him, but he didn't accept it," he said.
"Women, be very careful. This is monstrous, this is unbelievable, we are all in shock because this was unexpected," the young woman reiterated, also detailing how her father constantly monitored his ex-wife, with whom he had two other children.
Cándido Raúl Rubio Pérez, 54, was arrested by police Thursday night at an apartment complex on Berkley Drive in Madison, a neighborhood northeast of Nashville.
The man fled after stabbing 52-year-old Niurka Alfonso Acevedo to death in the parking lot of Chadwell Elementary School in Madison on the morning of April 14.
Alfonso Acevedo, also a Cuban national, worked as a cleaning lady at that elementary school.
