The newly elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, stated yesterday in an interview that one of his priorities when he takes power on January 20 will be the immigration issue, as he has been warning about since the beginning of his electoral campaign.
The 47th President of the United States spoke to NBC News in which he revealed why he so strongly supports his plan to deport criminals, murderers, drug traffickers and anyone who, far from contributing to the country, seeks to destroy the peace of American society.
NBC News reporter Kristen Welker asked Trump how much it would cost the country to send all these criminals back to their countries of origin, and the businessman unhesitatingly advocated for his proposal despite the millions of dollars it could cost the economy: โItโs not a question of cost. We really have no other choice. There are people who have killed and murdered, drug lords who have destroyed countries, and now they are going to go back to those countries, because they are not staying here. Itโs not a question ofโฆ itโs not a question of cost.โ
He also clarified that just as he will be able to deport criminals, he will try to ensure that people who are truly willing to contribute to the economy with innovative ideas for development come to the United States, such as investors, companies and large factories, provided they do so legally and without a criminal record.
Trump, to the concern of many, said the idea behind his mass deportation plan was aimed at those who constitute a threat to national security, claiming that his supporters and those who elected him president were in tune with his policies of removing drug traffickers, murderers and gang members who should never have entered the United States.
In his conversation with NBC News, he also took the opportunity to thank all those people who placed their trust in him by voting in the elections, especially Latinos who, despite knowing his anti-immigrant stance in the last elections, voted for his mandate. Some voters in general supported his project of having secure borders again and promoting an orderly immigration process, something that also contributed greatly to his reelection.
Donald Trump clarified that there is no problem with people entering the United States as long as they do so to contribute to the country and as long as they come with a sense of belonging and in a legal manner.
