Mega Millions jackpot has no winner, now stands at $1,100 billion

Mega Millions jackpot grows after Friday night draw with no winners, the total jackpot reaches $1,100 billion, one of the largest sums in the history of this game, reported 51 Telemundo.

Whoever wins the Mega Millions jackpot next could choose between taking home $525.8 million in cash or a full prize in annuities.

While the vast majority opt for the full cash prize, the vast majority have the 30-year payout option, which gives winners an immediate payout and continues to pay annual payments for the next 29 years, increasing by 5% each time in the annuity option.

This is one of only eight occasions when the jackpot has exceeded $1.000 billion. It is worth noting that lottery winnings are not tax-exempt.

The Mega Millions lottery awarded five prizes to tickets that matched five of the winning numbers, which were 3, 8, 31, 35, 44 plus 16.

The winners of these tickets reside in Florida, California, Texas, Nebraska and Illinois, and a sixth winner from the state of Virginia, who not only matched the five numbers but also the Megaplier, an option that is purchased when playing this lottery, and can multiply a secondary prize by 2, 3, 4 and up to five times the sum.

The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Tuesday, when players will try to win the estimated $1.100 billion jackpot.

The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 302.575.350, depending on the game.
