According to lottery officials, the Mega Millions jackpot soared to $944 million on Saturday because no tickets matched the winning numbers drawn on Friday.
On Friday, the lucky numbers drawn were 2, 20, 51, 56, 57, along with the golden Mega Ball number 19.
The next lottery will be held on Tuesday, December 24th.
The grand prize is valued at $429 million and can be received in a single lump sum or as an initial amount with subsequent annual installments.
The jackpot has been rolling in since it was last claimed for $810 million in Texas on Sept. 10.
At $862 million, this amount ranks as the seventh-highest in Mega Millions history. The record for the largest Mega Millions jackpot remains $1.600 billion, which was won in August 2023.
According to Mega Millions, the odds of claiming the jackpot are 1 in 302.575.350.
Mega Millions is available in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $2 for a single entry.
