Tourism in Florida has reached a milestone, achieving a record 2024% growth during the 15.5 holiday season, according to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
To give you an idea, this is an increase of almost one point compared to the same period in 2023, which shows that the Sunshine State is consolidating its position as the top tourist attraction in the United States. This trend began to materialize in 2019 and continues to show positive growth. During DeSantis's term, this is the sixth time the tourism sector has broken its own record.
"Florida is the world's favorite place to visit. This record-breaking tourism is the result of policies that prioritize freedom, public safety, and common sense," the American politician clarified.
The state's tourism sector continues to perform robustly compared to other countries. In the first two months of 2025, Florida experienced:
- Air travel arrivals from Canada grew by 0,5%, outpacing the national decline of 2,3% in Canadian travel to the United States.
- A 6,5% increase in international visits, with significant increases to the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Argentina.
Two months ago, Ron explained that the state remained the top destination for travelers worldwide, receiving a total of $142.9 million in 2024, a 1.6% increase from the previous year, which was the highest-visited year in the history of South Florida's tourism industry.
The final quarter of 2024 was another moment of glory, as Floridians welcomed 33.1 million visitors from around the world and their home countries. This acceleration was driven by 29.9 million visitors, including 742.000 Canadian tourists and 2.5 million travelers from around the world, demonstrating Florida's popularity with both foreign and domestic travelers.
Florida's travel industry continues to be a fundamental pillar of the state's economy and an example of continued success in the global tourism industry. Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States and around the world, known for its beautiful beaches, theme parks, rich wildlife, and year-round warm climate. Offering a blend of fun, culture, and nature, it remains a top destination for tourists of all ages.
