The chaotic accident took place in the Eastern Shores community near Northeast 17th Street and 35th Avenue around 8 p.m. Saturday, before the boat lifted its bow and then capsized, as bystanders watched in shock.

The same short video appears to show several people swimming to the shore to safety after being thrown into the water.

According to witnesses, there were minors on board; fortunately, the children are safe. The Miami-Dade Fire Department has said everyone on board the boat has been located, and one adult has been hospitalized.

"We focused more on helping the people in the water. We saw many people floating in the canal and did everything we could to help them," he said of the incident.

A local resident recorded another video, showing the same boat accelerating and zigzagging to avoid another collision before making a sharp turn and then crashing.

The causes of the maritime accident are currently unknown.
