A woman's life turned upside down when she bought a $180 scratch-off ticket and won $20 million, Florida Lottery officials announced yesterday. Lucky winner Katrena Ford of Fort Walton Beach went to her local office and claimed her winnings from the Gold Rush Limited game.
Officials said the woman purchased her winning ticket at a Murphy USA gas station at 193 Mary Esther Boulevard in Mary Esther and posted a photo of the ticket for the game, which has a 1 in 2.65 chance of winning. They said Katrena preferred to receive her money in a one-time payment of $795.000, while the store that sold it will charge a $2.000 commission.
The next drawing will be the Mega Millions tonight, with a jackpot of $387 million.
