Florida Mega Millions player lost nearly $1 billion, but became a millionaire anyway, reported Miami Herald.
The lucky winner lost the game's estimated $977 million jackpot but will take home $1 million, lottery officials said.
The winner of the ticket was able to guess five numbers in the draw last Friday, March 22, although he did not manage to guess the Mega Ball.
According to the national Mega Millions site, “no one has won the grand prize, which will total an estimated $1.1 billion, with a cash option of approximately $526 million, for the next drawing on Tuesday, March 26.”
On the previous day, 3, 8, 31, 35 and 44 were the winning numbers, and by Friday night more than 205.000 tickets had been sold in Florida.
The winner of the million-dollar ticket in Florida bought it at a Publix in Boca Raton, they reported. WFLA y Florida Today.
Mega Millions tickets sold in California, Illinois, Nebraska, Texas and Virginia also matched five winning white numbers.
The next drawing is expected to take place on Tuesday at 11:00 p.m. ET, with streaming online at the same time.
