Juan Formell in Miami

In what appears to be a parade of Cuban artists traditionally close to the Cuban dictatorship, last night Juan Formell, the leader of the popular and much loved Cuban orchestra Van Van, arrived in Miami on a family visit, according to him. But his daughter said that he will also hold some meetings to coordinate a tour of the United States. Formell's visit, as expected, has created controversy among Cubans in Miami due to some of Formell's statements in the past that were not well received by the Cuban community in Miami. Here I show you the video from Channel 41 in Miami with Formell's arrival.

I am proud of the artistic bridge that is opening between Havana and Miami, that is missing, since we need the warmth of our Island and the presence of our brothers to receive and feel the love, the tenderness, the Cuban aroma that we cannot let escape no matter how cruel the distance is and feel more united than ever, that way we can overcome all the difficulties that we face, I ask for it from both sides... That is to say the same thing about the coming of artists, from there to here, from here to there, and that there is only one motto: UNION AND FREEDOM FOR ALL CUBANS.
