Carolina, a 26-year-old Cuban resident in the United States, has sparked debate and sympathy online by revealing her monthly expenses for living in an RV on TikTok. The young woman, who identifies herself on TikTok as @carolina_makeup_99, shared that she and her husband have decided to adopt this lifestyle.
“Hello, I'm Cuban, 26 years old, and I live in a mobile home with my husband full-time.” “I'm sorry to disappoint you a little because many people think living in a mobile home is cheap or poor. I've been called poor in the comments, and the truth is, it's not like that,” she recently commented after receiving much criticism.
In his video, he explains that the RV was obtained through financing, resulting in a monthly payment of $700. He also contributed $950 toward the parking lot where he currently resides in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
“Where we are, it's not cheap at all because we're 10 minutes from the LNG Plant, so we paid $950, and it doesn't really offer anything except the pole to hook up the trailer,” she said, mentioning other expenses like RV insurance, which costs $110 a month. “It's basically the same as renting an apartment or a house a month.”
The comments on her post read: "Mommy, I lived in an RV and my life is very happy"; "Only people who live in Cuba say that"; "Poor but happy, at least you're paying for your house, friend."

However, other users questioned her: "If it's like rent, you don't save or earn benefits, what's the point?" The young woman responded: "The important thing is that we're happy." Some came to her defense: "You have a roof over your head, you have a comfortable bed to sleep in, you're not cold, you're protected from the heat, you have clothes, shoes, and food... who's poor?"
Carolina previously shared another video describing how to buy an RV. “It's a very simple process; basically, it all depends on your credit,” she explained. Her RV was financed and they put a 10% down payment, bringing the total to $8,000. She also commented, “You have to take it from the dealer with insurance, as that's a requirement. They also sell many accessories that you'll need once you pick up the RV, such as fresh water lines, drain hoses, surge protectors, and many other things.”
