The United States Embassy in Havana, Cuba, referred through its social networks to family reunification visas, taking into account that there are very old cases, others dating back to 2017 and some more recent ones that have not yet been resolved.
Apparently, the issue was addressed by the diplomatic mission in response to complaints from many Cubans, who are in complete uncertainty about the status of their applications.
One of the affected, identified as Yanet del Rosario Segarra, turned to the official Facebook profile of this institution, stating: "They have cases without a response and without giving any information or solution since the closure of the Embassy in 2017, cases that were interviewed with their documentation reviewed and cases that were cited between August and September of the same year until it closed."
He added: "The embassy opened and still nothing, we have not been given another option, nor have we been notified to find out about our immigration status, we are the ones who are truly punished for being legal, we were already invited to the CFRP in 2014 and we deserve an answer."
In response to the numerous criticisms received, the specialists of the diplomatic representation in question assured that they would soon provide information on the work they are carrying out in relation to the cases of immigrant visas that remain pending after several years.
The truth is that the United States Embassy in Havana receives daily various complaints related to the processing of these requests due to the lack of a statement on its part regarding the existing delays, mainly due to the restriction of its operations in 2017.
In this regard, another Antillean woman said: "What is happening with the documentation of the CFRP cases interviewed and others cited in 2017? Why are they not projected with our cases? Our relatives, who are American citizens, paid everything established and we are still here on the island without receiving a solution to our cases."
"We are in a migratory limbo where no one can give us an answer, much less a solution to our cases," stressed another citizen of the island.
People involved in these procedures are advised to remain alert to the information that the aforementioned diplomatic headquarters will soon offer on the subject of family reunification.
