Two planes collide at Seattle airport

On Wednesday morning, a Japan Airlines plane was on the runway at Seattle-Tacoma Airport when it collided with a parked Delta Airlines plane. Reports indicate that while both planes sustained damage, no injuries were reported.

At 10:17 a.m., the airport reported at X that a taxiing aircraft collided with the tail of a parked Delta jet while maneuvering.

Images taken from the tarmac shared by passengers on social media showed the Japan Airlines wing cut off halfway from the tail of the Delta plane.

“One passenger shared his experience on social media, saying, 'While we were parked at SeaTac, another plane collided with us, unexpectedly hitting our tail. It was pretty scary.'”

The airport said the incident had only minor impacts on its operations.

The airport announced: “Currently, no injuries have been reported. SEA is coordinating with both airlines to safely evacuate the passengers and transport them to the terminal.”

The near miss comes amid rising tensions at airports across the country following a pair of alarming incidents.
