The trial of American contractor Alan Gross began today in Cuba. The Cuban contractor is accused of violating Cuba's sovereignty and inciting subversion on the island, which according to all consulted sources is absolutely false. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today urged the Cuban government to release the United States citizen Alan Gross without demanding any conditions in return. Alan Gross worked for USAID (United States Agency for International Development) and was arrested while distributing satellite phones, which Cuba considered a violation of its sovereignty. The Cuban government is asking for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, which has raised alarm bells among many politicians in the United States. Apparently, the real intention of this abuse is to use Alan Gross as a bargaining chip for the 5 Cuban spies imprisoned in the United States.
