Banco Santander announced that it is making progress on the realization of its project in the fascinating Brickell neighborhood in Miami, consisting of the construction of a tower that will be called Santander Tower and will be located in the financial center of the city, specifically at 1401 Brickell Avenue.
This new development, which will cover 1,6 million square feet or 487,680 square meters, will replace the 14-story building currently located on that site, whose demolition will begin in the coming weeks, according to information provided by the company in question.
Santander employees working in this tower, which includes more than 650 people from private banking and other areas, will be relocated to offices located on Brickell Avenue, as well as to the Santander office in Coconut Grove on a temporary basis, meaning they will remain there until construction work in the area is completed.
According to records from the Miami Building Department, the permit for the demolition of the existing building was granted in early July and a supplemental plumbing permit was issued on September 4.
The new tower will have an estimated height of 233 metres and 41 floors, housing first-class offices with stunning views of the bay, terraces with beautiful gardens, an urban club and a daycare centre. Its design is by Handel Architects and Bernardi & Peschard Arquitectura.
Santander employees will occupy part of the office space, while the rest will be allocated to third-party tenants.
It was last February that the Miami Development Review Board voted to approve the design.
In a recent statement, the company said: “Santander Private Banking has a well-established presence in the city, where it has operated as a hub offering the best services to global private banking clients for more than 40 years. The Miami market remains a key connection point between North America, Latin America and Europe, and Santander remains committed to being present in this international financial and technological center.”
