Cuban arrested in Miami for threatening neighbors with a gun

In an incident that has left the Miami community in shock, a 32-year-old Cuban man was arrested after threatening to shoot his neighbor during an argument over a parking space in a condominium. The situation turned violent when Jorge Marquez, the suspect, pulled out a firearm and pointed it not only at the victim, but also at all the witnesses present.

incident details

Marquez's arrest occurred Tuesday at a condominium located at 10th Street and 44th Avenue in Northwest Miami. According to the arrest report, the argument began when Marquez knocked on his neighbor's window to ask him to move his car from the parking lot. Although the victim agreed and got out to move his vehicle, it appears he did not do so to Marquez's satisfaction, sparking a heated argument.

Witnesses to the altercation tried to separate the two involved, but at a critical moment, Marquez pulled out his gun and threatened to shoot the victim. During the fight, one of the witnesses who tried to intervene fell to the ground and was injured, which further complicated the situation.

Community reactions

Some residents of the building expressed concern about the increase in disputes between neighbours over parking. One resident commented that she had noticed that tensions over parking space were becoming more common, mentioning that in the building, residents often have to deal with a shortage of available spaces.

"My wife saw it and said, 'Hey, there's something going on there because I saw two or three stalkers,' something is going on," said a neighbor who has lived in the area since 2009. "The number of people in the condominium is too many, and if there are more people living there than the allowed number, there are bound to be problems."

legal consequences

Marquez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and appeared in court, where he was issued a restraining order against the victim. This order prohibits him from any contact, whether direct or indirect, and he must stay at least 500 feet away from the victim and her home, workplace or school. Under questioning, Marquez confirmed that he understood the restraining order.

Marquez's bail was set at $10,000 and he remains in the county jail for the time being. This incident has highlighted the growing concern about safety and peaceful coexistence among Miami residents.
